What we made happen
HRMC built its 4th floor Obstetrics Unit expansion on the roof of the existing facility above the interstitial space and the Operating Rooms for approximately $11.5 Million. The project consisted of 24 new, private Post Partum Rooms. Nine of the rooms will be existing 4 North rooms renovated to match the new OB unit finishes.
An eight (8) station holding nursery and a five (5) station Level 1 Nursery were constructed. Eight (8) LDR rooms and seven (7) Special Care Rooms have been constructed, and two (2) C-section rooms. A four (4) bed triage area was completed immediately adjacent to the entrance lobby. The unit has a private entrance/elevator accessible from Hickory Street leading into a two story atrium lobby area (shown below).
A major infrastructure feature was the construction of a 1,800 square feet penthouse which houses all the mechanical equipment that supports the unit. This is a 37,000 square foot addition to the East Building.
