What we made happen

The project involved the installation of a new exterior façade on the east face of Holmes Regional Medical Center, to provide enhanced hurricane resistance for the surgery suites, and to improve architectural continuity uniting the old building with the North Expansion for aesthetic purposes.

The project required piles immediately adjacent to the existing foundations sufficient to hold the weight of the new precast panels and the hurricane loads to which it they would be subjected.  The panels and its structural system were designed for 160 and 200 miles per hour winds, respectively.

This is the main hospital entrance which remained active and safe for patients and families all during the construction process.  In addition, the construction was scheduled to permit surgeries to continue unimpeded and without disturbance to doctors, hospital staff or patients..  The project’s cost was $1,850,000.
