What we made happen

Host Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International began their meeting facilities renovation with a window of opportunity of 81 days to completely gut out the 55,000 SF ballroom ceilings, walls and flooring. In addition, 95 suites and 15 meeting rooms were renovated for a total project cost of $14.7 Million. The challenge to meet schedule was to work around other functions going on at the three other ballrooms and pre-function areas. As part of the project an additional 15 meeting rooms, public restrooms and the Business Center had to be completed during this time period.

In order to meet the demanding schedule and noise issues, the team took on a second shift and additional labor. Ray Loperena coordinated all FF&E, art work, decorative lighting and sound systems with the General Contractor to assure all materials were available when ready for installation.

Upon unpacking the crystal globes and assembling the main feature light fixture systems, we discovered damage to many of the crystals. We immediately informed the manufacturer in Eastern Europe of this issue and demanded that they send replacements, plus additional crystals should any arrive broken. After negotiating with the manufacturer, it was agreed that the Manufacturer would pay all costs for the replacement pieces. Measured savings to the project total $85,000.
