What we made happen
Boston Iconic Architects, Thompson & Rose, were commissioned by the Pinellas County Commission to design this multi-building museum campus. Working as Project Executive during the design and construction phases, Mr. Wade provided complete preconstruction services for the team as well as quality, cost, and schedule compliance management.
Non-traditional materials and systems were studied, assessed, and confirmed throughout the design phase by the pre-construction team. A custom exterior flat-lock metal panel system was invented and site fabricated to conform to the non-uniform wall geometry. The interior climate control systems were critical, maintaining a constant humidity level between 45% and 52% in order to protect valuable Art.
Interior veneer plaster wall surfacing and radiused framing enabled the overhead light monitor design to achieve intended indirect lighting balance and volume. In addition to the building components, Mr. Wade worked directly with Artists to design, estimate, and construct individual sculpture and art supporting components and foundations.
Accommodations were put into place for future needs as anticipated during the preconstruction phase. This museum has been featured in numerous Architectural studies and publications for its authentic use of materials and lighting environments.
